Yes—we at Tri-City HVAC specialize in furnace repair, air conditioner installation, and all things HVAC, but we also want to make sure all of your home comfort needs are met even after our trucks pull away.
This is why we love giving you spring cleaning tips so your air vents will work at their best.
Spring allergy season is bad enough—we don’t want you to make it worse by pumping your indoor air with the allergens trapped between the slats of your vent covers. Cleaning your vents can cut down on these issues. All you need is a screwdriver, a sponge, soap and water, and maybe some rubbing alcohol.
First—turn off your furnace or air conditioner. Wear a baseball cap to keep the dirt and build-up from getting in your eyes as you remove the ceiling vents.
Second—unscrew the vents and wash them in the sink with soap and water.
You must scrub as gently as possible to prevent chipping the paint on the vent covers.
You may also notice that the vents are greasy or oily which is possible, especially if you often use candles. To get the grease out use a water and rubbing alcohol solution.
After you are finished, leave your vents out to air dry. If you reattach them while wet, they can often grow mold or get dirt build up much faster.
Once the vents are dry, screw them back on and breathe easy.
Happy Spring Cleaning. And, be sure to call Tri-city HVAC for all of your Air Conditioning and Heating needs.
